FAQ
Everything people usually want to know before they buy a ticket, walk into an audition, or write us a check. If your question isn’t here, just ask.
Coming to a show
How do I buy tickets?
Our tickets are sold online through HomeTown Ticketing, the same box office Horry County Schools uses for school events. Tickets are $16, which is a $15 ticket plus a $1 platform fee. Pick your date, choose your seats, and your tickets land right on your phone. Buy tickets here.
Where are performances held?
In the 682-seat St. James High School Auditorium, at 10800 Highway 707 in Murrells Inlet. More about our theater.
How many shows do you put on each year?
Four. A fall musical, a holiday cabaret in December, a big spring musical, and a Broadway Revue that closes out the year and sends our seniors off. See what’s playing.
Is the auditorium wheelchair accessible?
Yes. If you need accessible seating, or you just want to know the easiest way into the building, send us a message before the show and we’ll have it ready when you get here.
Can I get a refund or exchange my ticket?
No. All ticket sales are final, with no refunds and no exchanges, so double check the date and time before you check out. If something has gone wrong with your order, get in touch and we will help however we can.
Auditions and getting involved
Who can audition for a show?
To perform in a St. James production, students need to either be a member of the International Thespian Society or be taking Theatre Workshop classes here at the school.
What actually happens at an audition?
It depends on what the show needs. Most auditions are some combination of a singing audition, a dance audition, and a reading. If we need to see more of you, you’ll get called back for another round. More on auditions.
What is the Thespian Troupe?
We’re Troupe 6984 of the International Thespian Society, the honor society that recognizes middle and high school students for excellence, achievement, and volunteering in theatre. Learn about our troupe.
Do students really run the shows?
They do. Students build the sets, run the lights and sound, handle costumes, call the cues, and perform. That is the whole point of this program.
Where do students go after St. James?
Our alumni have gone on to elite theatre BFA programs, college musicals, summer stock, and professional productions. Meet our alumni.
Supporting the program
Why does the program need donations?
Ticket sales cover about 40% of what it costs to run the St. James Drama Club for a year. Sets, costumes, lighting and show licensing all come out of the other 60%, and that part comes from our community. Support the program.
How can my business sponsor the program?
Sponsors get advertising on this website and in our playbill, free tickets to our productions, and a shout-out from the stage on show nights. Become a sponsor.
How do I get in touch or keep up with the program?
Send us a message, or follow along on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. That is where cast lists, rehearsal photos and opening night go up first.
